Amir Khan VS Terence Crawford | WBO World Title 2019 | fight begins

Two of the sport’s biggest stars, Amir Khan and Terence Crawford, currently face each other in the year’s most anticipated welterweight showdown at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Two of the sport’s biggest stars are currently facing each other in the year’s most anticipated welterweight showdown as Terence “Bud” Crawford puts his WBO Welterweight World Title on the line against the pride of Bolton, England, Amir “King” Khan. Terence Crawford is defending his WBO welterweight title for the second time since beating Jeff Horn in June 2018. 

Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs), from Omaha, Neb., is ranked by many experts as the world’s best fighter, a switch-hitting dynamo who has reigned supreme in three weight classes. Crawford made history when he unified all four 140-pound titles in 2017 before moving up to Welterweight. Crawford will be stepping into the Garden’s famed boxing ring for the third time in his career.

Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) burst into the public consciousness at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens when, at 17 years of age, he captured a silver medal for Great Britain. The lightning quick former unified 140-pound champion has won seven of his last eight bouts as he prepares to take on the pound-for-pound king in a legacy-defining super fight.

The King Khan knows he is putting his future on the line by fighting Terence Crawford but says he would love to prove everybody wrong and be a world champion again. A surprise victory may await for Khan, who has lost four times and been knocked out on three occasions, is determine to do the opposite and rocket his opponent this time towards the forefront of world boxing.

Crawford was reported to have said:

"Amir Khan is a great fighter. I can't take nothing away from. He's done a lot in the sport of boxing. He has a big name. He's undefeated at the welterweight division. So why not take another step up?"
Whereas speaking to the media, Amir Khan said:

"If this goes down as a chess match, we are both good boxers, he is quick, as well, and sharp and experienced."
