Salman leads Golden Eagles to win in 20th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament quarter-finals
Golden Eagles marked a 7-wicket victory over Sargodha Seniors in National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament 2019 quarter-finals being played at Ali Garh Ground in Lahore.
Opener Muhammad Salman Khan led Golden Eagles to 7-wicket win over Sargodha in the quarter-final game as the first put into bat, Sargodha Seniors were dismissed at 142 in 25.5 overs. Muhammad Nawaz scored 34, Salman Shahid 28, Nouman Nasir 26, Kashif Iqbal 20 and Arshad Naveed 13. Muhammad Rehan bagged 3-27, Rauf Wain 2-17, Zaheer 2-27 and Dr Afzal 1-40.
Golden Eagles chased the target in 18.2 overs losing just 3 wickets. Man-of-the-Match, Salman hit 1 six and 9 fours to gather 57 runs. Saleem Elahi struck 39 and Shahid Anwar 35. Tauseef Abbas claimed 2-24 and Ejaz Mehmood 1-25.
A total of about 107 teams from all over the country are competing in the annual tournament this time which has been organized by Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA). This mega cricket event has been held every season since its launch a couple of decades ago. In the last season, there were 103 teams and the event was won by Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) of Southern Zone.
The Southern Zone champions will be fighting with the finalist of Northern Zone in the National Final to claim the title of the mega 20th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament, which is to be played in Lahore.
