After eight men’s and six women’s expressed their inability to compete on one pretext or the other, top seed Asim Qureshi and Farah Ilyas were compelled to make exit being hurt during their matches.
Asim succumbed to Aahil Shah 12-10, 11-7, 13-11 in quarters due to dehyderation while Farah awarded her first round match to Sadia Raheel after she twisted her ankle while practicing before the match.
Meanwhile, lower ranked Sanam Yasin and Sadia Raheel, both from Wapda, set up a title clash in women’s singles as Aahil Shah, Rameez Khan, Abdul Rahim and Shah Khan completed men’s semis lineup.
Sanam struggled to whip Sana Muzaffar 12-10, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10 while Sadia fought gallantly to get past Farwa Arif 9-11, 11-9, 13-11, 12-14, 11-9, 11-8 in the two semi-finals.
Besides Aahil, Rameez sent M. Afzal packing 11-8, 11-8, 11-3, 11-8. Rahim coasted to 9-11, 2-11, 11-9, 11-9, 12-10, 11-9 victory over Jahangir Khan while Shah gets the better of Basit Ali 11-4, 12-14, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-3.
