Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi along Santiago secure Runner-up spot of Abierto GNP Seguros 2019
Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his partner Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico secured runner up spot of the Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey, Mexico.
Pakistan tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq who paired with Mexican tennis player Santiago Gonzalez, was only one step away from lifting the doubles title after falling to the Americans Nathan Pasha and Evan King.
Earlier, the top seed pair of Aisam and Santiago defeated fourth seed Australian duo of Matt Reid and John Patrick Smith 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 in the semi-finals of this ATP top-tier world challenger championship.
The dispute for the title began with a very tight set in which both couples managed to take advantage of their serve until the last game.
Aisam & Santiago constantly looked for the counterbeat of his rivals, who managed to rescue each of the attempts, it was until the final part of the first quarter that the American couple managed to break the service of their rivals being this the difference to get the score of 7-5.
The public constantly supported the national representative's partner, recognizing his long history in white sports, however, his rivals maintained the intensity in each of the "games" played and with strong defense managed to finalize the match with a score of 6-2.
Thus all-American duo of Evan King and Natthan Pasha proclaiming themselves GNP Insurance Open champions, which is part of the ATP Challenger Tour calendar.
Asiam and his partner Santiago Gonzalez are now looking forward to the clay court season ahead on ATP Tour starting from U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships where PAK-Mexian duo will face Marcel Granollers & Matt Reid on 10th April.
