Pro boxer Mohammad Waseem departs for Scotland determine to become first ever Pakistani World Champion

Pakistan’s Professional boxer Mohammad Waseem flew out of Islamabad for Scotland to train under the MTK global, setting his sight on the world title.

History says it all about Pakistan's professional boxer Mohammad Waseem as his collection of the titles consists of world silver titles, World Boxing Council (WBC) world silver flyweight champion to which he said that his only dream is to become the world champion.

The former two-time World Boxing Council (WBC) world silver flyweight champion signed a deal with the England-based company in January after the end of his contract with the Korea-based AK Promotions, under whose patronage the Pakistani fighter won two WBC world silver titles. The Quetta-born 31-year-old is optimistic about his new stint. Waseem has signed a three-year deal with MTK Global. Soon after signing Waseem in January, Mike Altamura of MTK Global said that it was a pleasure to sign a multi-year pact with the Pakistani boxing star.

Waseem is expected to begin his training in Glasgow from today, where in Glasgow gymnasium, only flyweight boxers will undergo training for their future commitments.

"Yes, in Glasgow only flyweight fighters have been kept. I know about Glasgow as I have won silver medal there in 2014 during the Commonwealth Games. It’s a good place and I am looking forward to avail myself of the opportunity to work under MTK Global which is a professional unit working on boxers from around the globe," the pro boxer said.

Waseem's current WBC ranking is 11th and his International Boxing Federation (IBF) ranking is 12th. So far he contested a total of 9 fights in which he have won 8 of them, 6 by knock-outs, losing to only Moruti Mthalane. 2015 was he year when he left the amateur circuit and turned professional having won bronze in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. He clinched the WBC world sliver title in only his 4th bout and just months later defended that. However, most of his short pro career was dogged by financial issues that forced Waseem to stay out of the ring for quite some time. But he feels that his new voyage would be more successful as he said that without caring for anything else he would now focus on his game and would like to play a bout before Ramadan.

"After Ramadan, I want to play another fight and then I will be in a position to fight for the world title which is my dream," the fighter from Quetta said.

The world’s major boxer management company, MTK global with which the fighter has signed for, is now expected to boost Waseem’s ambitions and he will be able to become the first Pakistani to claim world crown in the near future.
