Zalmi and Bahadur record wins in 3rd RMI Media Cricket League
Zalmi and Bahadur Cricket Teams defeated their respective opponents to register wins in the on-going 2019 edition of RMI Media Cricket League being played at Government Hasnain Shaheed Higher Secondary School ground in Peshawar.
Star-batsman Kashif Aziz's knock of 49 runs guided Zalmi to a vital 9 runs victory against Markhoor in the on-going 3rd RMI Media Cricket League. Zalmi skipper won the toss and decided to bat first by setting up 114 runs despite the top order tumbling but thanks to Kashif Aziz who stood up firmly by facing each of the rival bowlers and made a cracking knock of 49 runs including five graceful boundaries.
He missed his half-century by a run but overall he played with determination and guided the team to setup a good total of 114 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Besides Kashif, Abdul Saboor Khattak (19) and Hammad Shehzad scored 17 runs. Fida Adeel made another 10 runs not out. For Markhoor Nasir Bukhari claimed 3 wickets, Riaz Shahid got 2 wickets.
In reply, to 114 runs target, Markhoor bundled out for 105 runs with Abbas Ali smashed a super 40 runs including 5 boundaries and one 6, skipper Shakeel Siddique made 25 runs, Riaz Shahid scored 10 runs. Abdul Saboor Khattak grabbed 3 wickets, two on consecutive ball and succeeded in turning the whole complexion of the match. Hammad Shehzad, Fida Adeel got 2 wickets each while Kashif got 1 wicket. Thus Kashif and Abdul Saboor were jointly declared as Man of the Match for their key role in steering team towards the victory.
In the second encounter, Bahadurs team boys stunned Sultans by a score margin of 144, as their batsman, Yasir Ali who smashed 22 sixes in his knock of 168 not out, the biggest record of score so far in the 3 editions of the league.
Bahadurs' skipper won the toss and elected to bat first by piling up a huge margin of score 212, so far the biggest one, wherein Yasir was the man behind the huge target who smashed 22 towering sixes. He hit 22 sixes with seven boundaries and made an unbeaten knock 168 runs, the biggest individual score so far.
While for the losing team Sultan, Shehzad Ahmad got 2 wickets for 16 runs in his 3 overs spell. In reply, Sultan bundled out for 68 runs in which Shehzad Ahmad was the high runs taker with 14 runs, none of the other batsmen could cross the double figures. Rizwan claimed 3 wickets, Naveed got 2 wickets while Niaz got 1 wicket. Thus Bahadurs team won the match by 144 runs. Yasir was declared as Man of the Match.
The third edition of Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) Media Cricket League is featuring a total of about 20 teams of journalists, around 280 members of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) and Peshawar Press Club (PPC), will be part of different teams. This league will continue for 28 days and will have a total of 47 matches played.
