Punjab B dominates team event of 58th National Amateur Golf Championship
62 golfers had competitions on the first day of 58th National Amateur Golf Championship which is being held at Garrison Golf Course in Lahore.
The Inter Provincial team match was won by the Punjab B team which comprised of: Raza Ali, Rafay Damil Ata Ullah and Salman Jehangir, they all together aggregated a team score of 226 giving them a lead of five strokes over their seniors, the Punjab A team. Ashiq Hussain, Muhammad Saqib and Robin Bagh aggregated a score of 231 for Punjab A team and stood second while the third position was claimed by Federal A and Sindh A teams with their aggregate scores of 232.
There were a total of 62 competitions contested on the first day of the championship in which the opening round was stunningly won by Abdul Zahoor of Multan as he played amazing first round of gross 69, three under par to set the pace going perfectly through 18 holes and supported by birdies on 3 holes. The ones who trended him were Zulfiqar Ali also from Multan and Zubair Hussain of PAF with their first round score gross of 71 and 72 respectively.
The Ladies contests will tee off today which will have the most talented ones such as: Rimsha Ijaz, Parkha Ijaz, Dania and Suneyah, having the competitions.
Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) has organized the 58th edition of National Amateur Golf Championship that rolled into action yesterday and will continue till 8th April, Sunday. This championship is featuring a noticeable number of leading golfers from all over the country.
