Daniyal Jehangir makes history by winning 1st PGF Longest Drive Competition
The first ever Pakistan Golf Federation Longest Drive Competition concluded successfully with Daniyal Jehangir makes history as he stood champion by 370 yards at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course.
The first ever Golf Long Drive Competition was organized by Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) which was held at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course yesterday in which a noticeable number of golfers took part to further display and improve their ability, strength, power and timing of this expensive sport.
This competition featured golfers in three different categories which included, Professionals, Amateurs and Ladies and it was held at the hole no. 01.
As the Professional category contests begun, Lahore Gymkhana's Daniyal Jehangir with a driving distance of 370 yards he was declared the champion as he took turn to hit the ball the farthest.. He was followed by the renowned Pakistani golfer, Ahmed Baig of Garrison Golf Club on the runner spot as his powerful hitter position hit the ball 354 yards. The third position went to Shahid Javed Khan also from Lahore Gymkhana with his driving distance of 340 yards.
Whereas in the ladies category the first spot was scooped by Dania Ayaz of Gymkhana through a drive of 297 yards while Defence Raya's Rimsha Ijaz stood second with her driving distance of 280 yards and her sister, Parkha Ijaz managed to stand on the third position with her drive distance of 267 yards.
Noyyan Nayyar claimed the Amateur category title as he hit the ball 368 yards and was followed by Hussain Hamid with his drive distance of the ball - 357 yards. Salman Akhter came third and his distance was 345 yards.
Professional golfers bagged some serious prize pursues of Rs. 100,000 to Daniyal as he is the champion and 75,000 to Ahmed Baig. The third position holder Shahid was also given Rs. 50,000 worth of cash prize while the Amateurs received the expensive golf equipment for their high achievements.
Lt Gen (R) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain, President, Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) was the honorable guest of honor along with Shaukat Javed, Convenor Golf, Omer Zia, Captain Golf, Asad I.A, Khan, Vice President PGF, Maimoona Azam, Ladies Captain, Dr Asma Shami and Dr Ali Haider.
