Omar Associates & Haseen Habib CC record wins in 20th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament
Omar Associates and Haseen Habib Cricket Clubs won their respective matches in the southern zone matches of the 20th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament here the other day.
Omar Associates and Haseen Habib Cricket Club won their matches against their respective opponents in the Southern Zone of the National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament 2019.
The first game witnessed Omar Associates team outplaying Shafqat Swaleha team by 108 runs at the TMC Ground while the second clash between Haseen Habib and Gold Bridge Media teams saw, Haseen Habib claiming the match against Gold Bridge Media by 40 runs at the Lawai Cricket Stadium.
Put into bat, Omar Associates posted a healthy 258-4 in the allotted 25 overs on the back of a brilliant 170-run third-wicket partnership between Iqbal Shaikh (90) and Imran Javed (64). Shafqat Swaleha’s top-order was undone by left-spinner and skipper Jaffer Qureshi who grabbed four wickets in his opening spell with the new ball and they were bowled out for 150 in 23.4 overs despite Mazhar Hussain’s 63.
Whereas in the other game, Haseen Habib, who were put into bat, amassed 208-8 in 25 overs with Babar Malik scoring 75 and Imran-ul-Haq adding 57. Faisal Athar then scored 86 off 60 balls in a lone battle as Gold Bridge Media lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 168 in 23.4 overs.
A total of about 107 teams from all over the country are competing in the annual tournament this time which has been organized by Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA). This mega cricket event has been held every season since its launch a couple of decades ago. In the past, the Southern Zone champions will be taking on the Northern Zone champions in the National Final.
There were 103 teams in the last season, which was won by Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) of Southern Zone.
