Maneri Loins win Bravo Swabi Premier League BSPL 2019 opener

The Bravo Swabi Premier League (BSPL) got under way under the aegis of Bravo Ground of Companies, Malaysia and District Cricket Association at Gohati Cricket Ground Swabi, Peshawar.

In the opening match Shamansoor Zalmay won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 213 runs in which Umar Amin scored 46 runs, Naveed Malik made 65 runs were the high runs contributors. For Maneri Loins Sana Ullah took four wickets, Imtiaz Akram got two wickets while, Fakhar Zaman, Shahbaz, Shah Rukh, Khalid and Imtiaz Habib took one wicket each.

Maneri Loins chased the target for the loss of six wickets after playing 18.1 overs with Kamran hammered a cracking 51 runs. Arshad Iqbal took two wickets, Umar Amin got three wickets.

The inaugural ceremony for the league was held at Gohati Cricket Ground (GCG). Among the prominent international cricketers who graced the ceremony and also feature in BSPL are dashing Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Umer Amin, Imran Nazir, Khalid Usman and Rafitullah Mohammad.

The other well-known cricketers who will be appearing in the league including Artizaz Habib, Yasir Shah, Imran Khan, Haris Rauf, Rizwan, Adil Amin, Abdul Razaq, Sohail Akhtar, Awais Zia, Umer Gul, Murad Ali of Kuwait and Abdullah Hamdani.

Saifur Rehman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bravo Group of Companies, Malaysia, formally inaugurated the League. Former Member of the governing board of Pakistan Cricket Board Aamir Nawab, Swabi Deputy Commissioner Salman Lodhi, District Police Officer, Syed Khalid Hamdani, members of DCA, leaders of political parties, cricketers and lovers of the game were also present in the colourful ceremony.

The Gohati ground has already hosted many first class matches. The Stadium was constructed keeping in mind the weather conditions in the district. Aamir Nawab said that the basic objective of BSPL is to promote cricket in the region and dig out new talent, besides providing an opportunity to the youngsters to display their capability and skills while playing with eminent cricketers.

This is a golden opportunity for the young cricketers, Aamir Nawab, who rendered matchless services for the promotion of cricket in Abbottabad Region including District Swabi, added.
Aamir Nawab Khan, who is also Chairman of BSPL said that the teams competing in the league belong to different regions and cricket academies. He said that total seven franchises would participate in the BSPL and it has been planned on the pattern of Pakistan Supper League (PSL).

“The double league system is the pattern on which the BSPL would be played,” he said. “Total 25 matches would be played and the final is scheduled to be held on April 25.

Aamir said that Pakistan is blessed with natural talent, but the cricket bodies of the country should spot that talent, groom them in the national or regional academies and get best out of them. He also thanked the KP Police for taking full-proof security during the League to all the participating international cricketers. He said we have already discussed how to tackle the spectators for the smooth sailing of the matches. The teams comprising Maneri Lions, Swabi Knights, Ghatwal Batoran, Divine Warriors, Pakhtun Zalmay, Shamansoor and Travcont.
