Nishter Basketball Club claims NBP Pakistan Day Basketball Tournament 2019
Nishter Basketball Club defeated Omega Basketball Club by 59-51 to win the 2019 NBP Pakistan Day Basketball Tournament which successfully concluded at Arambagh Basketball Court in Karachi.
The final game of the tournament witnessed Nishter Basketball Club team's players, as a whole worked hard enough to earn the victory by defeating the opponents Omega Basketball Club on a 59-51 score line. Their Muhammad Shabbar proved to be the key player scoring a total of 17 points claiming the win along with Talha Amjad, Vaqar Zulfiqar and Asad Ali's contributions of 13, 12 and 10 successful shots, respectively.
However, the losing side, which now stands as the runner-up position claiming team, was also well prepared as they lost the match on a close call for which the credit goes to the star player Abbas Qaimkhani who made it to the basket 15 times and Usman Rehman who scored 13, Anas and Tahir Naqash's 10 points each in total.
DC South, Syed Salahuddin Ahmed along with KBBA President, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Shahida Parveen, Amjad Ali Khan, Agha Muhammad Raza, Azmat Ullah Khan and former International player, Abdul Nasir were the honorable chief guests at the concluding ceremony who also awarded the high achievers of the tournament with trophies, certificates and individual prizes. Talha Amjad of Nishter Basketball Club was adjudged best player of the tournament while Muhammad Shabbar was named best player of the final match. Faizan Yousuf, and Usman Khawaja received emerging players awards.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the role of KBBA in promoting the game of basketball at grass root level and assured of his full support to the association in this regard.
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) sponsored yet another sport event, this time in the field of basketball as Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) organized another basketball event to mark the day of Pakistan that is March 23rd.
This mega basketball event was named as "Pakistan Day Basketball Tournament 2019" that featured a total of about 12 teams from the city of lights: Karachi and the players from their respective teams were battling against each other so as to earn the ultimate title of the tournament among which Nishter Basketball Club became successful. All the matches in this tournament were played on knock-out basis.
