Amna Fayyaz lifts Bok National Women Squash Championship 2019 trophy

Sindh's Amna Fayyaz came out to stand on the top spot in Bank of Khyber (BoK) National Women Squash Championship 2019 which concluded successfully at Hashim Khan Squash Complex in Peshawar.

Third seeded player, Amna Fayyaz from Sindh, recorded a stunning victory against fourth seeded Komal Khan of WAPDA in the final match that lasted for 32 minutes. The score was 11-6, 11-9, 5-11, and 11-4. Both Amna Fayyaz and Komal Khan played well and gave each other a tough fight with some fine nicks, drop shorts and forceful smashes. 

Amna took the first set by 11-6 and did the same in the second set which she won by 11-9. Komal Khan after conceding two sets, came back strongly and won the third set by 5-11. Just when seem that Komal was going to win as her excellent display in the set but again Amnna Fayyaz dominated the fourth and decisive set and she won by 11-4. Thus Amna Fayyaz won the final by 3-1.

Earlier, in the semi-final both Amna Fayyaz and Komal Khan recorded a fine upset in the semi-final. Amna Fayyaz recorded victory against top seed and Pakistan No. 3 Rushna Mehboob by 3-1, the score was 11-9, 3-11, 11-9 and 11-3. Amna played well against her strong rival Rushna and upset her in the four sets battle.

In the second semi-final fourth seeded Komal Khan upset second seeded Noor Ul Ain Ejaz of SNGPL in straight sets, the score was 11-9, 11-4 and 13-11. Noor Ul Ain Ejaz only gave tough resistance to Komal Khan in the first and third set where both struggled hard for single point.

Country Manager Bank of Khyber. Zarak Khan was the chief guest on this occasion along with Secretary Irrigation and Senior Vice President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association, Daud Khan, Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation, Qamar Zaman, National coach, Yasin Khan, Head Coach PAF Squash Academy, Atlas Khan, Head Coach Blue Tone Squash Academy, Wazir Gul and Chief Referee, Munawar Zaman.

Speaking on this occasion, Qamar Zaman thanked Bank of Khyber for extending support to KP Squash Association and sponsoring the championship. He said National Women Squash Championship is a calendar event of the KP Squash Association organizing almost 22 tournaments in a year including five to six female events such as; National Senior, National Junior Female Squash Championships, Inter-District Female, National Age Group Under-15 and Under-19 tournaments. 

He also thanked Secretary Irrigation KP Daud Khan for providing financial support to the association time to time for holding various tournaments both for male and female players.

At the end, the chief guest Zarak Khan along with Secretary Irrigation KP Daud Khan gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners, runners-up and other position holders. The winners Amna Fayyaz and Komal Khan bagged Rs. 19,000 and Rs. 13,000 respectively. While the cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 and 3,000 were given to the winners and runners-up from his own pocket.

This event was organized by KP Squash Association with the huge sponsorship of Bank of Khyber, that featured a total of 48 female players who took part in this championship from across the country.
