Musarrat glitters with four golds

Sargodha University’s Musarrat Ali bagged four individual gold medals, sweeping the women’s competitions at the ongoing All-Pakistan Inter-university Athletics Championships at the Qayyum Sports Complex on Wednesday.

With Musarrat being the pick of athletes in the women’s events, GCU Lahore’s Mohsin succeeded in winning a gold medal in the 100m hurdles in the men’s competitions while Kafayat of University of Center Punjab grabbed a gold in the pole volt.

Musarrat bagged gold medal in the 100m race and became the fastest female athlete of the meet followed by Turab of Punjab University and Shafaq of Iqra University getting silver and bronze medals, respectively.

After winning gold in the 100m, she went on to grab gold medal in the 100m hurdles clocking a time of 16.57sec followed by Punjab University’s Amina clocking 16.87sec and Mehvish Urooj of Lahore College for Women University in 19.54sec.

Musarrat was also the pick of the pack when she won another gold medal in the 400m followed by Lahore College’s Almas and Bisma before winning 400m hurdles clocking 1.06.94 followed by Farkra of Punjab Unviersity and Lahore College for Women University’s Asma.

In the men’s 110m hurdles, Mohsin of the GCU Lahore won a gold medal followed by UCP’s Mujahid Nazir and University of Peshawar’s Khalid with the University of Centre Punjab’s Kifayat winning the pole volt event to claim a gold while Punjab University’s Shahid Nawaz won silver. In the same event, Superior University’s Adeel won bronze.

On the other hand, Lahore College for Women University’s Asma secured a gold in the high jump in the women’s competitions with ICBS’ Nighat grabbing silver while BZU’s Nabila and Mehvish Urooj shared bronze for third position.

In the women’s shot-put competitions, Sadia Khalid of Mirpur University of Science and Technology Azad Kashmir won a gold followed by Qandil of Punjab University and Hina Main of Karachi University,

Bisma Afzal of Lahore College for Women University won the women’s 800m ahead of Almas Ibrahim of Iqra University

and Saba Yousaf of IU Bahawalpur.

Amina of Punjab University took the women’s long jump gold with Nighat Kausar of ICBU Lahore picking silver and Hamaiza of Punjab University getting bronze.
