Pakistan bags 1 gold, 4 silver & 7 bronze medals in 3rd Peace & Friendship Wushu Championship (Men and Women)
A 25-member Pakistani Wushu team featured in the 3rd Peace and Friendship Wushu Championship (Men and Women) in which the team managed to win several medals at Zahedan in Iran.
The 3rd edition of Peace and Friendship Wushu Championship (Men and Women) featured teams from about seven (7) nations among which, the host, Iran had two teams fielded in the competitions. Other participating nations were: Palestine, Iraq, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. And the competitions were be held at the Sports Complex of Imam Ali in Zahedan. Pakistan are a regular participant in this event.
Th gold medal for the nation was clinched by Amanat Ali in Changquan competitions while he also won a silver medal in Gunshu event along with a bronze in Daoshu category. Whereas Dawood Shahid and Sundas managed to win silver medals in Chianshu and -65 KG contests, respectively.
3 more bronze medals were won by Samreen Altaf in Thaci, Thachi Chain and Daoshu categories. Also, Pakistan's Jannat Shahzad added to the medal tally for the country by grabbing 2 more silver medals in Nangun and Chayanshu events. One bronze medal was also claimed by Maira Karamat in -60 KG weight class.
Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar also awarded the medals and certificates to these winners upon their return to the country and appreciated the performances of the players and assured full support to further hone their skill and to get more laurels for the country.
