PBSA to hold Jubilee Insurance 44th National Snooker Championship 2019
Pakistan Snooker and Billiard Association (PBSA) will hold Jubilee Insurance 44th National Snooker Championship 2019 this month.
In a bid to popularise snooker in the country, Pakistan Snooker and Billiard Association (PBSA) will hold Jubilee Insurance 44th National Snooker Championship 2019 this month.
The 44th National Snooker Championship is schedule to be held at Karachi Gymkhana under the supervision of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF). Total 52 cueists will participate in the mega event.
Last year, Mohammad Asif who won the national titles in 2009 and 2012 and now at the age of 36, Asif routed challenger former national champion and third seed Mohammad Bilal as he started his year’s campaign with winning note. The winning score of Mohammad Asif in the four and half duel remains 83-10, 69-48, 76-19, 12-78, 28-93, 0-87, 57-77, 68-9, 79-34, 8-87, 75-51, 69-40, 66-37.
“Snooker is getting popular in the country with each passing day as youngsters are taking a keen interest in it. I’m sure this event will further popularize this game in the country,” Chairman PBSA Alamgir A. Shaikh said.
The event carries total prize money of Rs 2, 72,000 with winner getting Rs 100,000 and runner-up Rs 50,000 while the cueists will earn Rs 2,000 per century break.
Participants will be divided into eight groups and top two of each group will propel into knockout pre-quarterfinals on completion of league matches.
