Pakistan to feature in 3rd Stage of Asian Snooker Tour 2019-Bangalore, India
Pakistan will participate in 3rd Stage of Asian Snooker Tour which is rescheduled to be held in last week of March in Bangalore, India.
The 3rd leg of the Asian Tour 10 Reds Snooker Tournament is scheduled to be held from 21st to 24th February 2019 was rescheduled by the ACBS to be held in the last week of March 2019, by the ACBS, in Bangalore, India.
Following Pakistani players are qualified as per the qualification criteria of the ACBS / IBSF:
1. Haris Tahir – Runner Up ( Asian U-21 Snooker Championship 2018)
2. Babar Masih – Ranked No.4 (Asian 6 Red Championship 2018)
3. Muhammad Bilal – Semifinalist (World Snooker Championship 2017) & - Runner Up (Asian 6 Red Snooker Championship 2018)
Nineteen-time world champion India's Pankaj Advani had reached the top spot in the Asian Tour 10 Reds Snooker 2018.
He was at no. 4 position after Doha championship with 121.7 points. But in the Jinan event, Advani secured 201.92 points and accumulated a total of 323.62 points to grab the top spot.
Doha championship winner, Muhammad Bilal of Pakistan, slipped to second place with total points of 306.18.
The USD 40,000 is the total prize amount earmarked for the event, but hoped it could be raised.
Accordingly the PBSA had applied for the Visas for the above Pakistan players at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The ACBS informed the PBSA that the Indian snooker board had informed them that the Indian government is reluctant to issue Visa to the Pakistan players and subsequently, the ACBS had to reschedule the tournament in March, the Indian government was persistent in denying the Visas.
Ultimately the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) had to officially cancel the 3rd leg of the Asian Tour 10 Reds Snooker Tournament.
