The events for senior professionals and amateurs the were on the cards for the first day, but heavy overnight rains made it impossible for the organisers to start the competitions.
On the demand of the golfers, the organisers, however, decided to allow them to start their two-day contest from Friday (today).
Now as per revised programme, the seniors will play nine holes on Friday (today) and as many on Saturday. Also competing on Friday will be 100 leading professional golfers of the country.
senior amateurs will also compete over 18 holes on Thursday. Eligible senior amateurs must have a handicap of 14 and below. Ladies will compete on Saturday and Sunday.
According to Shaukat, overall 240 golfers would feature in the championship.
Hamid Zaman, the pioneer of the championship, stated that in addition to the cash prizes the golfers would also have a chance to win a luxury car with a hole-in-one performance.
There will also be an event for U-21 professionals for which Rs225,000 prize money was on offer.
The age criteria for senior professionals is 50 years and above, and for this category the prize money is Rs350,000.
Prominent professionals who have signed up for the event include Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob Ahmed, Mohammad Munir, Hamza Amin, Talib Hussain (all Islamabad); Shahid Javed Khan, Shafiq Masih (both Gymkhana); Mohammad Ashfaq (Airmen Golf Club, Karachi), Waheed Baloch (Karachi) and Mohammad Asif (Raya).
