Pakistan wins bronze medal in 6th Turkish Open Taekwondo Tournament
Pakistan's rising star Arif Ullah won bronze medal in Cadet Under-14 category of Turkish Open Taekwondo Tournament 2019 which is in progress at Antalya, Turkey.
Athlete from Khubaib Taekwondo Academy, Arif Ullah made the country proud by wining bronze medal in Cadet Under-14 category of the tournament where he was first up against the host country's fighter and then the Russian taekwondo player.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTWF), President Lt Col (R) Wasim Ahmed Janjua in regard with his fighter's win expressed that,“Arif Ullah played exceptionally well and defeated a Turkish athlete in the quarterfinal and then he was up against top Russian Junior in the semifinals, where he did his best, but lost narrowly.”
He said Arif is the product of the recently-held National Championship in Islamabad. “Khubaib Foundation is taking care of Arif and helping him in pursuing his Taekwondo career. Around 3,000 athletes of different countries are taking part on 10 mates in this Championship.”
He also mentioned that they have sent seven athletes in different categories and results are highly encouraging. “When we compare, the opponents are very experienced and get round-the-year training, while we have been requesting Pakistan Sports Board since long to start training camps for at least selected group of players, as number of championships are coming thick and fast."
A four member taekwondo squad has been sent by PTF to compete in the fights of 6th Turkish Open Taekwondo Tournament along with 3 officials under whom supervision, the athletes will be participating and will be showing their skills in the fights.
The squad includes: Muhammad Owais, Hussain Anjum and Arif Ullah Khan (Athletes) while the three officials are: Sami Ullah (Team Manager), Talha Junaid (Coach) and Muhammad Sohail (Assistant Coach).
