Quetta & Peshawar win PAK Railways Inter-Divisional Cricket Championship 2019 openers
A total of 9 divisions are participating in this 6-day PAK Railways Inter-Divisional Cricket Championship 2019 which got underway at Railway Stadium and Mughalpura Institute ground in Lahore.
Quetta and Peshawar are the two winning teams who registered their first wins in the championship by winning the match against their opponents: Multan and Sukhhar.
At Mughalpura Institute ground, Quetta Division defeated Multan Division by four wickets as 56-run third-wicket partnership between Fasih Rafi and Zohaib Akhtar guided Multan Division to score 166 runs in the allotted 40 over. Fasih hit three fours to score 41 and Zohaib contributed 28. Farhan Ali made useful 34 runs. But from Quetta's side, Shehbaz Khan took 6-23 and Adeel Khan 3-38, guided their team towards the victory in the game. Uzair Nasir’s unbeaten 58 helped Quetta achieve the target in the last over. Nawab Khan scored contributed 46. Waseem Akram and M Shoaib took two wickets each.
While in the second encounter at Railways Stadium, Peshawar Division recorded first win on a close call over Sukkur Division by 4 runs. Peshawar scored 259-2 while in reply, Sukkur could score 255-8.
A total of nine (9) division of railways belonging to different parts of the country are taking part in this championship which is being organized by Pakistan Railways by the efforts of its sports department.
Participating divisions include: Quetta, Sukhhar, Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Mughalpura Workshop, Pakistan Railways Police, Rawalpindi and Peshawar who are divided into two pools. Players from their respective divisions are seen trying their best to win the ultimate title of the championship.
