Liu ends Yousary giant killing run to lift squash title
Young Egyptian Amina Yousary on Sunday at last tasted defeat at the hands of Hong Kong’s top seed Liu Tsz-Ling who won the Bahria Town International Women’s Squash Championship at Rawalpindi’s Safari Club.

Liu beat promising Yousry, who made it to the final after causing two upsets in quarter-final and semi-final, in a hard- fought four-game match which lasted 55 minutes.
Yousry who defeated Pakistan’s top-ranked Maria Toorpakai in the semi-final stunned the top seed by playing aggressive strokes winning the game 12-10.
In the second set, both players played aggressive game, giving tough time to each other. However, Liu succeeded in winning the game 12-10.
The third game saw brilliant performances from both players but the situation took a turn for Yousary when she received injury at a time when her rival was leading 9-7.
When the game resumed, Liu played some aggressive strokes finishing 12-7 before maintaining supremacy in the fourth game to defeat her opponent 11-6.
“I’m happy after winning the title. It was a good final as Amina Yousry played very well,” said jubilant Liu. She also praised the peaceful environment in the country.
On the other hand, Yousry said that it was her second tour to Pakistan. “I enjoyed very good environment and hospitality in Pakistan,” she maintained.
Vice-chief executive of Bahria Town Muhammad Ilyas was the chief guest on the occasion while Pakistan Squash Federation secretary Amir Nawaz was also present.
The chief guest and PHF secretary gave away trophies to both players.
