Pakistan will host the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas one of the standout ties for Group I in September where all three highest-ranked nations will be seeded in Asia/Oceania group including the top seed India, second seed Uzbekistan and third seed China while Pakistan, Lebanon and Korea are unseeded teams of Asia/Oceania Zone Group I.
It will be the first time India will play a Davis Cup tie in Pakistan in 55 years.
India and Pakistan have met six times in the competition, though three of those meetings came in consecutive seasons from 1962-4. India have won every time, racking up an emphatic 23-4 aggregate score in total rubbers.
In 1971, the two nations were drawn together but the tie was not played with India awarded a walkover.
India, who are a formidable side in Asia/Oceania zone, have played in Pakistan twice, both times in Lahore, but the most recent of those visits was in March 1964, with India winning 4-0.
The two nations met at a neutral venue, in Kuala Lumpur, in 1972.
Pakistan have visited India since, losing at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, 3-2, in 2006. That was the only time Pakistan have taken India to the final rubber.
Second seeds Uzbekistan will travel to Lebanon, while China host Korea, Rep in the seventh Davis Cup clash between the two nations.
The format for the Group I ties will remain unchanged from the trials introduced in 2018, with ties being made up of four singles rubbers and one doubles rubber contested over two days.
The 12 Group I winners will advance to the 2020 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifiers, while the 12 Group I losers will compete in Zone Group action in 2020.
