Pakistan to feature in 3rd Peace and Friendship International Wushu Championship
A 24-member Pakistani team owill participate in the Peace and Friendship International Wushu Championship 2019 which will be staged from 1 to 4 March at Zahedan in Iran.
The 24 memeber Pakistan's Wushu squad will largely be dominated by Baluchistan's players as the tour is being sponsored by the Baluchistan government. Pakistan Wushu Federation’s (PWF) president Malik Iftikhar said that the Baluchistan government had given green signal to Baluchistan Wushu Association about sponsoring the tour.
He also expressed of the championship that it would be a competitive competition as fighters from the central Asian region would also be there. And informed that the fighters from Baluchistan, three fighters each from Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would also be part of the touring party.
He also announced of a 15-day camp that would be held in Quetta.
The federation also asked Azad Kashmir and Islamabad to confirm their top players' participation but AJK has the issue of cold that's why their players are unable to practice and Islamabad’s issue is that youngsters there play Wushu for only fitness purposes. They don’t want to take it up as a profession.
The squad will proceed to Zahedan by road because it is around 600 kilometer away from Quetta and it would be much easier for the team to go by road then to fly there.
Malik revealed that PWF would also hold a couple of international events in Lahore this year. “We have already requested the city government Lahore for support. We are going to hold Friendship International and 5th South Asian Championship this year. Last year, through the support of the city government Lahore, we organised the 4th South Asian Championship,”
