Karachi University wins HEC Zone G Inter-Varsity Boys Cricket Tournament 2018/19
Karachi University won on a close call over PIMSAT University to claim the title of HEC Zone G Inter-Varsity Boys Cricket Tournament 2018/19 which was held at the IBA Cricket Ground in Karachi.
The 2018/19 HEC Zone G Inter-Varsity Boys Cricket Tournament 2019 was being organised by Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) that featured a total of teams of twelve (12) leading universities from which players were seen competing with all their effort so as to win the ultimate title of the championship.
Participating teams include: Karachi University, Sir Syed University, NED University, Habib University, Indus University, Greenwich University, Hamdard University, the hosts - Institute Of Business Administration, Iqra University, PAF-KIET, Institute of Business Management (IBM) and PIMSAT University.
The matches of the tournament were played at four different grounds namely Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground, Rashid Latif Academy Gulberg, Aga Khan Gymkhana Garden and IBA Cricket Ground.
Batting first, Karachi University team were all out for 214 in 39.2 overs with Hamza Qadir being the top scorer with his 55 runs. In reply, the PIMSAT team could score only 210-6 in the allotted 40 overs. Mohammad Ali (60) and Akbar Babar (55) batted well but their team fell just four runs short. Hamza was declared man of the match for his half-century and one wicket making his team even more proud with the win.
While PIMSAT's Zeeshan Haider was declared Best Batsman for his 250 runs in four innings of the tournament including a century and the Best Bowler title went to Asghar Shah also belonging to PIMSAT University who took ten wicket in three matches.
Also, Haris Shamsi from IBM University was named player of the tournament as he scored 281 runs with two centuries and captured four wickets in three matches.
Acting Dean of IBA Karachi, Dr. Sayeed Ghani was the honorable chief guest along with Dr. Danish Ali, Gohar Raza and Syed Waqas of IBA being the guests of honor and distributed the prizes among the high achievers of the tournament.
