Veterans Yellows & Tiger Veterans win Veterans Hockey League 2019 openers

In the first match of the day, star-studded Pakistan Veteran’s Yellow taught a hockey lesson to Movers Veteran’s as they bulldozed Mover's by 9-1 to maintain their unbeaten run. Muhammad Yousaf scored four goals, Deputy Commissioner South Islahuddin Ahmed slammed in three and Islahuddin Siddiqui, Safdar Abbas and Kamran Ashraf hit one goal apiece. Mehmood Ahmed scored the consolation goal for Movers Veteran. 

According to rules of the event, the participating outfits are allowed to include any guest player in their teams irrespective of submission of list of players to organisers before the commencement of the tourney. 

In the second match of the day, Tigers Veterans beat Dolphins Veterans by 1-0. Dilawar Bhatti scored the winner in the 30th minute.

Organisers said the league will conclude on Feb 2 and will be followed by a knockout round. According to the draws, Pool ‘A’ includes six teams while Pool ‘B’ comprised of seven outfits.

They added it has not been decided yet whether to allow four teams from each pool to propel into quarter-finals or give passage to two teams from as many groups into the last four. 

Commissioner Karachi Iftekhar Shalwani was the chief guest and he appreciated the facilities in academy and efforts of academy for the promotion of the national game.
