Fromer PJF secretary slams SAG show.

Former secretary of the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Mahmood Naveed has slammed the performance of the Pakistan judokas at the recently held 12th South Asian Games in India.

In a press statement on Thursday, Naveed said the PJF, despite a poor show in the Games, came out with fabricated stories about the success of the players.

"The real truth is that the show put up by the judo players was shameful. In order to analyse their performance, it is important to look at the results of the 2010 SAF Games held in Bangladesh, where Pakistan sent five boys and two girls and they came back with three gold medals and two silver medals (in men category), while the girls earned one silver and one bronze medal," he said.

But now, Naveed said 12 players— six men and as many women — came back with just two gold and one silver medals, besides some bronze medals. He said Shah Hussain Shah, who earned a gold medal, had not been trained by Iranian coach as he is based in Japan and the federation should not take any credit for his gold medal.

"Immediately after the 11th South Asian Games in Bangladesh, a full time training camp for Judokas was set up by the Pakistan Sports Board. A foreign coach was called to impart training to the players and this camp continued till the team departed for India. Furthermore, in the team that went to India, Shah Hussain was called up to bolster the strength of the Judo team," he said.

He said except Shah Hussain, all remaining five male judokas could earn bronze medals. "So if anyone compares the performance of this edition with 2010 one, it is nothing," he said. He appealed to the PSB and Ministry of Sports to look into the performance of the PJF, which he alleged has squandered mil-lions of rupees of the public money.
