LRFC records second win in 6th Servis Tyres 15s Rugby Championship
LRFC thrashed Hawks RFC by 22-5 in the most recent matched played into 6th Servis Tyres 15s Rugby Championship which is being held at Pakistan Rugby Academy Sports Ground in Lahore.
The match played yesterday saw it ending in a one-sided encounter as Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) and Lahore Hawks RFC struggling to get hold on the ball during their match with their unstoppable speed.
A;though Hawks RFC boys were seen failing in protecting their line but it was their Afzal who scored the very first try in the game at 29th minute to which Rana Ali of LRFC levelled the score by his perfect first try in the 40th minute. At the end of the first half, it was equalized for both teams by 5-5.
Second half belonged to LRFC as in the 47th minute Shoaib scored his try with quite a good run in the field and in the 58th minute Waseem scored another good one. But LRFC did not stop there instead scored twice In 64th and 85th minutes through Ali Shahid and yet again, Shoaib in a good run.
When the final whistle blew LRFC made all the efforts of the losing team go in vain and finally got successful to earn their team the victory in the game by a huge margin of 27-5 score in total.
Waseem, was another player who made impressive tries and along with great team work they made Lahore Hawks RFC suffer the loss of the game.
Chairmen Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU), Fawzi Khawaja, Head Coach PRU, Shakeel Ahmed Malik, PRU Rugby Services Manager, Syed Mozzam Ali Shah were the honorable chief guests and quite good number of spectators were also present to witness this match.
Pakistan Rugby Union has organized its main premier event of the year in its sixth edition this time and the event has been named as “6th Servis Tyres 15s Rugby Championship” as Servis Tyres are the title sponsors of this event.
A total of 15 teams are battling it out for the ultimate title gain in the championship and these teams are divided into four different divisions from which Quetta and Karachi are the new participating teams.
