Punjab Cup champion Asjad Iqbal, who is a seasoned player but has gone down the ladder in the national rankings, rejuvenated his act halting the winning run of youthful Majid imposing to 5-3 victory.
Majid, it may be mentioned, has surged to his career best fifth rank after playing the final of third ranking event last year where he lost 4-8 to Mohammad Asif. Asjad, who was home 81-30, 28-71, 54-50, 64-0, 13.63, 64-22, 6-93, 69-41, is drawn to meet his mentor and former world amateur snooker champion Asif in the first session of quarter-finals as he lived up to his billing while getting the better of Abul Saim 5-3 in another encounter.
The former celebrity, who is also two-time former national champion, won the duel 53.68, 77-21, 65-26, 64.46, 66-59, 12-67, 27-59, 66-32.

Bilal now faces fourth seed Shahram Changezi who accounted for wildcard Mohammad Faheem 5-1 the scores being 70-20, 14-73, 61-36, 98-7, 118-1, 80-15. Changezi's win include a century break of 105 in the fifth frame.
Second seed Mohammad Sajjad, sixth seed Babar Masih together with debutant Abdul Jawed and unseeded Sindh cham-pion Sohail Shehzad also pro-pelled into the last eight.
