Bahria College Karsaz clinches Quaid-e-Azam NBP Inter-Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament trophy
Bahria College Karsaz triumphed over SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green 29-25 in the final of Quaid-e-Azam NBP Inter-Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament that concluded at Arambagh Courts in Karachi.
The Quaid-e-Azam Inter Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament was organized by Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in which several teams belonging to different colleges of Karachi participated so as to earn the title as well as the trophy of the tournament.
SSP and Sports Officer of the Pakistan Railways, Shehla Qureshi inaugurated the tournament being the honorable chief guest at the opening ceremony of the tournament. While on the second day, Gohar Raza, Sports Manager, IBA University was the chief guest.
Bahria College Karsaz and SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green were battling with their best ball skills to win the final of the tournament so as to claim the title as well. Both teams were seen running on fast pace from the very start of the game as both kept coming forward recording scores one after the other on the socre-board which did not rested until the final decision of the match.
Bahria College over powered their rival team; SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green on a close call of 29-25 as their key player Anousha dubbed 12 points with Rida’s 8 and Aiman 6 points that contributed in the huge win for their team.
However, the runner up team also made efforts to win through Khizra made it to the basket with her attempts 10 times in total while Nazia and Anam each contributed 6 and 5 points each.
All the participating teams were at their best with their player's accurate speed, dribbling and shooting skills but as the tournament proceeded to the final stage, Bahria College Karsaz girls proved to be the strongest among all.
Khalid Jameel Shamsi of Pakistan Tennis Federation (Vice President) was the honorable chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the tournament who distributed the prizes and trophies among the players and the teams as well. Anousha of Bahria College was declared woman of the tournament.
He also appreciated Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) for holding the tournament in the name of Father of the Nation. National Bank of Pakistan hugely sponsored this tournament.
