Punjab and Sindh win 15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball C’ship openers
15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship got underway with Sindh team winning the first match at Aashqi Hussain Baseball Stadium, Bahria Town, Lahore.
The 15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship has been organized by Pakistan Federation Baseball which will be in action till 29th December. This championship is featuring baseball teams from HEC, Army, WAPDA, Police, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, KPK and Islamabad whose players are trying their best to win in the matches.
Brig. Khalil Ullah Butt (Rtd.) Executive Director Bahria Town, Lahore was the chief guest who pitched the ball to open the championship.
On the first day of the Championship three matches were played in which the first encounter saw Punjab team against Baluchistan’s team. Punjab’s women overcame Baluchistan by 15 – 5 score.
Aisha, Mariam, Hina, Asma, Zainab and Fauzia scored 2 runs each and Izra, Sadaf and Hadia contributed with 1 run each for the winning team. While for the losing side, Zara and Zara Ali scored 2 runs with Maira contributing with 1 run.
The second encounter was played between Police and Sindh teams in which Police suffered the loss on a close call of 24 – 23 to Sindh team.
For the winning team Mahak, Hafsa and Tosa incredibly registered 4 runs each with Hina Sarwar’s 3 runs. Hina Moin, Maria, Hina Ali and Maheen also contributed with 2 runs each and Saira contributed with 1 run. For Police Aqeela score 4 runs, Kiran, Eesha, Areej and Iqra score 3 runs each, Sidra and Kainat score 2 runs each and Mahwish contributed with 1 run.
Whereas, in the third game Punjab team recorded another win by thrashing Islamabad 12 – 1. Anusha, Arifa, Najma, Ayesha and Mariam’s 2 runs each and Aneeza and Waheeda’s 1 run each made Punjab team win yet again while leaving Islamabad on a severe loss to which Chaman Mushtaq scored 1 run.
Today, Sindh will play against Army first while HEC while fight for the win over Punjab in the second game. In the last encounter, KPK will play their first match battling with Sindh team. The matches will be contested staring from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM.
