7 prominent Athletes who made Pakistan proud in 2018

Seven promising athletes Nargis Hameedullah, Mohammad Nooh Dastagir Butt, Talha Talib, Mohammad Inam,Rabia Shahzad,Mahoor Shahzad, Maryium Nafees clinched worthy achievements at international level.

7 Pakistani athletes shined in the year 2018 clinching some worthy achievements at international level. Their promising talent assured that Pakistan has a bright future ahead. 

Despite all the hardships and instability, our beautiful country has also seen some proud moments and some extraordinary athletes as they hoist the Green and White flag high and proved their worth at the International stage. Their never-give-up approach helped them bring laurels to the country.

Here are Seven prominent athletes who bagged medals in 2018:

Mohammad Inam Butt:

Twenty nine year old National champion Inam once again proved his mettle snatching a Gold medal in the final of the men’s freestyle 86kg event at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Inam proved his dominance in 90kg Seniors category of the Beach World Championships 2018 when he won the Gold for second time in a row at Sarigerme, Turkey. 

Nargis Hameedullah:

Hailed from Quetta, Nargis bagged bronze medal in the 68+Kg category of the Karate event in Asian Games 2018. 17-year-old female karateka is the first female karate master to win a medal for Pakistan at an international event.

Mohammad Nooh Dastagir Butt:

Twenty years old  emerging weightlifter Nooh hails from Gujranwala clinched the bronze medal in the 105+Kg category of the weightlifting event of Commonwealth Games 2018. He lifted 173Kg in the snatch and 222Kg Clean and Jerk. Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt grabs gold medal in weightlifting with total 399kg weight in IWF Junior World Championship 2018 at Uzbekistan.

Talha Talib:

Eighteen years old weightlifter Talha Talib hails from Gujranwala rocked in the 62Kg category of weightlifting event in Commonwealth Games 2018 and won a bronze medal. Talha Talib made 3 National records by winning Gold & Silver in 5th ISSF International Solidarity Weightlifting Championship 2018. 

Mahoor Shahzad:

21-year-old Pakistan’s foremost badminton player Mahoor Shahzad won Gold in Annapurna Post International Corporate Badmintion 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Mahoor becomes the first Pakistani to reach the list of top 200 players in the International ranking. 

Rabia Shahzad:

20-year-old Rabia participated in the 55 kg category and lifted a total of 90 kilograms weight, 40kg snatch 50kg clean jerk to claim the gold medal in Ralph Cashman Open Weight Lifting Championship while also clinched gold in Asian Bench Press Championship in Dubai.

Maryam Nasim:

Pakistan-Australian powerlifter Maryam Nasim participated in the 63 kg category and won bronze medal by deadlifting 120kg weight in Avia Powerlifting competition.


Fans hope that the gifted Pakistani athlete carry on their hard work and achieve more in 2019 to make the nation proud.
