Aga Khan School Kharadar & Lyari Kakri crown champions of 2nd SC-KU Youth Football League

As many as 44 teams took part in this three month long Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth Football League which was played from 29th September till 18th December at Karachi United Football Club in Karachi.

Standard Chartered Bank, in partnership with Karachi United Football Club launched its second Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth League which featured 44 teams from Karachi United community centers that are established in Old Golimar, Clifton, Shireen Jinnah, Keamari, Malir, Baldia, Lyari, Korangi, Manghopir and Mauripur. Through this tournament 12 community centers were engaged. 

This championship lasted 3 months and the competitions saw a total of 800 boys and girls in different age categories from across Karachi who participated in the matches. Total 36 boys in 3 different age categories and 8 girls in Under-16 age category competed against each other so as to gain top honors in the championship.

Following were the age categories:
1. Under-10
2. Under-12 and
3. Under-14

The final of the Under-14 boys category was played between KU Academy and Lyari Kakri teams with more than 400 spectators hailing from different areas of Karachi witnessing the players’ battling for the final win as they performed with their best ball control, speed and talent throughout the game. But Lyari Kakri was able to edge past KU Academy and finally registered themselves being the winners of the championship.

While Aga Khan School Kharadar team marked their win in the Girls category along with Baldia Centre and KU Academy winning in the Under-10 and Under-12 boys editions, respectively.

Shazad Dada, CEO Standard Chartered Pakistan, graced the final matches at Karachi United Football Club.

Over a three months period the teams played 128 matches and through this league these players were provided a platform for Youth football teams from across the under-served areas of Karachi to come together, break barriers and inculcate the spirit of competition.
