Government College Peshawar declare champion of KP Inter-College Boys Volleyball Championship
Government College Peshawar earns the KP Inter-College Boys Volleyball Championship trophy at Government College Peshawar ground in Peshawar.
Government College Peshawar and Government Post Graduate College Nowshera volleyball teams were up against each and battled with all their strength to win the final game of the Higher Education Department - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-College Boys Volleyball Championship.
Government College Peshawar started the final with etching their name on the first set by 25-23 on a close call. But with the start of the second set, Government Post Graduate College Nowshera did not sit back and with their players tremendous efforts, the team made a comeback with winning in just the second but the third set as well by 23-25 and 27-29, respectively.
From then on, it seemed difficult for Government College Peshawar to equalize the set score as the opponent team was leading with good command on the scores but it was the third set in which both stretched to 27-29. There was a point to point struggle against each other and several fine forceful smashes, cross-court smashes and excellent flying services were witnessed from both sides.
But the winning team made a strong comeback and succeeded in leveling the tally 2-2 when they took the fourth set 26-24 and in the last and decisive set Government College Peshawar marched into victory at 17-15.
The key players who played quiet a star role in this loss on a close call for the losing team proved to be Shehbaz Khan, Javed Ali, Mutahir and Luqman while Nouman, Irfan, Shakir Ullah, Haris Ahmad and Babar Khan of Government College Peshawar played well and earned their team the champion trophy.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Asif was the chief guest on the closing ceremony along with Organizing Secretary and Assistant Director Sports Hassan Khan, Government College Peshawar Director Sports, Arshad Hussain.
