NBP Inter-Divisional Boxing Championship to kick off today
A total of seven (7) teams from various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in this NBP Inter-Divisional Boxing Championship which will begin today at Lala Aman Boxing Arena, Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boxing Association in coordination with Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is organizing the NBP Inter-Divisional Boxing Championship which will feature as many as seven (7) divisional teams from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from which several pugilists will be seen competing against each other so as to win top honors in the championship.
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is the title sponsor of this championship.
This was stated by Syed Kamal Khan that all preparations regarding the well conduct of the championship have already been done and hopefully there would be good entertaining event for the upcoming youth.
Participating teams are namely stated below:
1. Dera Ismail Khan
2. Bannu
3. Kohat
4. Swat
5. Mardan
6. Hazara and
7. Peshawar
He also said that KP Boxing Association with the strong support of Directorate of Sports KP would ensure all facilities to the players during the championship.
He also lauded Regional Chief National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Muhammad Sohail for enduring all out support financially in holding this championship. “We have also directed the office-bearers at Divisional level to conduct a proper trials before short-listing their respective teams so that each of the talented players could come and reach to the provincial level," he added.
He said talks have been continued with the Boxing Association of Afghanistan to have a joint series with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"Certainly with such event the players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would get international exposures," he said, adding, the support extended by Director General Sports KP is bearing fruits and through consistent event more and more pugilists are coming to the national side from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa." He said KP Boxing Association is trying hard to provide best available coaching and training to both male and female boxing players of the province and out of this championship a list of the talented pugilists would be finalized to hold a camp under qualified coaches.
After the camp these players would be given opportunities to represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the national events to be organized under the aegis of Pakistan Boxing Federation in other cities, he concluded.
