Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza registered victories to move into the last-16 of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed ITF Futures here at Islamabad Tennis Courts, Islamabad.
Pakistan’s national champion Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza registered victories to move into the last-16 of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed ITF Futures here at Islamabad Tennis Courts on Monday.
The longest serving Pakistan No 1 Aqeel Khan convincingly outclassed compatriot Heera Ahsiq 6-1, 6-1 while Muzamil defeated Mohammad Abid 6-2, 7-6 (7).
A total nine matches were played in the men’s singles category, whereas three matches were played in the men’s doubles category.
In men’s doubles, Abid Ali Akbar and Shamael Chaudhry defeated Abdaal Haider and Iran’s Hamidreza Nadaf 7-6 (5), 6-3.
In another match, Shahzad Khan and Syed Zohair Raza beat compatriots Moosa Chaudhry and Aman Attique 6-2, 6-1 while the Japanese duo of Ken Onishi and Rio Noguchi beat Heera Ashiq and Abdul Rehman comfortably 6-2, 6-0.
In the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed National Ranking Championship U-18 and U-14 matches of the first round were held. Hamid Israr, Ahmed Kamil, Khashan Umar, Nalain Abbas, Abudllah Adnan, Sami Zeb and others registered victories in U-18 contests.
