Pakistan secures top spot in USD 5,000 InGame Esports South Asia Cup 2018
Pakistan’s Portal Esports team won the 5 nation InGame Esports South Asia Cup 2018 title at Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Center.
A total of Five (5) nations participated in this three-day mega E-gaming championship which was organized by Sri Lanka based Esports organization InGame Entertainment PVT LTD (IGE), that made a way to the South Asian region with the inaugural IGE South Asia Cup. The five participating countries included: Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives from which there were a total of 25 Esports athletes playing in 11 matches of this cup.
Portal Esports have been crowned the champions of the IGE South Asia Cup after having won the final match against Entity Gaming. Portal Esports had a record winning streak of 14 matches, without a single loss.
The tournament saw the ex-Ruthless Gaming squad play for Entity Gaming, officially representing India in the tournament and they ended up as the runner-ups, losing to Pakistan’s Portal Esports in the finals.
Portal Esports have had some extremely decent successes in recent times, sporting a win in the Dew Arena Pakistan tournament in both DOTA 2 and CSGO. The IGE South Asia Cup adds another feather to their crown.
The InGame Esports South Asia Cup is the first of its kind in the region, a 5-nation Esports championship featuring League of Legends as the inaugural title. Five of the region’s best teams were seen battling it out for a prize-pool of USD 5,000.
The South Asian Esports scene saw a boost with Esports being included in the Asian Games last August, and the IGE South Asia Cup intends to build on the momentum to further grow the regional Esports scene.
The event was hosted with the support of the Sri Lanka Esports Association and the National Olympic Committee.
