Heera, Saqib,Yousuf, Shoaib move into main round of USD $15,000 ITF Tennis - Pro Circuit - Pakistan F2 Futures Championship

Pakistan’s Saqib Hayat, Yousuf Khalil, Mohammad Shoaib and Heera Aashiq qualified for the main round of the $15,000 ITF Futures (F-2) at the PTF Complex in Islamabad.

The qualifying round of USD $15,000 ITF Tennis - Pro Circuit - Pakistan F2 Futures Championship played at the PTF Complex in Islamabad where Pakistan’s Saqib Hayat, Yousuf Khalil, Mohammad Shoaib and Heera Aashiq qualified for the main round.

In the final qualifying round Heera defeated Filip Fichtel of Germany in a one sided affair by 6-3, 6-2 to book berth into the main round while Saqib won against Kamil Ahmed 7-5, 6-4, Yousuf thrashed Fahad Mehmood 6-1, 6-3.

Another promising player of Pakistan Mohammad Shoaib overpowered Abdaal Haider 6-3, 7-5 in the final qualifying round. Shonigmation Shofayziyev from Uzbekistan also qualified for the main round after smashing Barkat Khan 6-2, 6-2.

According to the acceptance list, there are 18 foreign players in the main draw while 4 Pakistani player qualified for the main round. Russia’s Ivan Nedelko and South Korea’s Cheong-Eui Kim are top seeds. The main draw is of 32 places and the qualifying draw was of 48 places in the singles category.

There were 11 Pakistani players and 30 foreign players in the qualifying draw. The matches were played on hard courts.
