Sajjid, Nadeem and Aslam win in Serena Hotels - Margalla Mountain Marathon 2018

Serena Hotels - Margalla Mountain Marathon 2018 concluded after its successfully conduction at Trail 5 in Islamabad.

Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) in collaboration with Islamabad Run with Us (IRU) is proudly organized the first ever Half Marathon in Margalla Hills National Park Islamabad and 5 Km Speed Hike. This marathon was largely sponsored by The Serena Hotels.   

Recently, the first-ever Margalla Ridge Trail was formally inaugurated which is the single largest trans-provincial trail in Pakistan with the distance of approximately 44 Km.

With approximately 150 participants in the marathon and more than 150 runners in the 5.5 K run, the event provided the people of Islamabad with an opportunity to keep them fit and healthy. The activity appealed to a wide cross-section of society which was evident from their huge participation in the event.

Mr. Sajid, Mr. Nadeem and Mr. Aslam are the top racers to ran harder than anyone else and etched their names on the first three positions. Sajid stands at the top to which he was awarded with 40,000 Rupees worth cash prize while Nadeem claimed the second spot winning 20,000 Rupees and the third position went to Aslam Baig who also bagged 10,000 rupees. Along with the winners of the race, medal to top runners were also provided which includes, Mr. Adnan claiming 4th position and Wahid Mehmood winning the 5th spot.

Other top runners to bag medals includes: Sajjid, Kashif Ali, Saleem Khan, Waqas, Asad Mumtaz, Shoaib, Thomas, Abdul Wahab and many more. The 21.55 kilometre route for the marathon began at Trail 5 to Faisal Mosque, Chak Chabbi, Talhar Ridge and back to Trail-5 while the route for 5.5K started at the Trail 5 Parking to Trail 3-B, to the exercise point above the umbrella and back to Trail 5.

Serena Hotels sponsored the Marathon as part of its adventure diplomacy initiative. Earlier this year Serena Hotels hosted the first Pakistan Karakorum Marathon, organised by the Pakistan Air Force that drew international record holders and prize winners to Naltar, a stunning valley in Gilgit District situated at over 8,000 feet above sea level.
