WAPDA crown 12th National Women Karate Championship title

WAPDA karate players defended their title and once again triumphs in the National Women Karate Championship 2018 which concluded at Sports Gymnasium Hall in Sahiwal.

Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) in joint efforts with Sahiwal District Karate Association organized the three-day mega Karate event for women on a national level which has been named as National Women Karate Championship in its 12th edition this year.All affiliated units of Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) as well as provinces of the country participated in this championship which includes: WAPDA, Army, Railways, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Police and Islamabad. 

Several fighters were seen competing with each other in the fights of four different categories: Individual Kumite, Individual Kata, Team Kata and Team Kumite.

Players belonging to WAPDA defended and retained their title in the 12th edition of this championship as well, as the fighters etched their names on the top with winning seven gold and one silver medal by a total of 175 points. While Army stands at the second spot with managing 90 points which are earned by claiming two gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Whereas the third position went to Punjab and Baluchistan, both ending on 55 points each, having won two silver and three bronze medals each.

Nargis Hazara of WAPDA, who won bronze in the Asian Games in Indonesia last summer, bagged gold medals in Team Kata, Team Kumite and +68 kg. WAPDA’s first gold medal was attained by Laiba Zia in -45 kg. While Maham Batool of Punjab and Nazdana from Baluchistan won silver and bronze medals respectively. Also, Army’s Naila Kausar bagged a bronze in the same category.
