Serena Hotels - Margalla Mountain Marathon 2018 on 2nd December
Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) in collaboration with Islamabad Run with Us (IRU) is organizing this mega Serena Hotels - Margalla Mountain Marathon 2018 which is scheduled to be contested on 2nd December at Trail 5 in Islamabad.
Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) in collaboration with Islamabad Run with Us (IRU) is proud to announce the first ever Half Marathon in Margalla Hills National Park Islamabad and 5 Km Speed Hike on 2nd December 2018. This marathon will largely be sponsored by The Serena Hotels.
Separate categories for males and females in both races have been decided upon and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the first three positions in both categories. In addition, all participants will be given medals and certificates. The registration fee is Rs. 500 and the tickets for participation in this race and hike competition are available on Trail 3, Trail 5 and Trail 6 entrance from 9:00 to 5:00 AM. Moreover, the registration for the race will also be done on the race day and will start at 6:30 AM at Trail 5 parking. While prize distribution will be held at 1:00 PM sharp.
Recently, the first-ever Margalla Ridge Trail was formally inaugurated which is the single largest trans-provincial trail in Pakistan with the distance of approximately 44 Km. The race would provide an opportunity to explore a part of that track.
There will be two race categories which includes: Margalla Hills Half Marathon and Trail 3 Speed Hike (5 Km) categories for males and female under 16 years of age and above and the race route of the Margalla Hill Half Marathon: Trail 5 Information center -> Margalla Road -> Pir Sohawa Road -> Trail 4 entrance -> Trail 4 Jungle -> Trail 6 entrance -> Jabbi -> Talhar Ridge -> Trail 3 -> Trail 5. For Trail 3 Speed Hike (5 Km): Trail 5 VIC - Trail 5 Parking - Margalla Road - Trail 3 parking - Trail 3B - Trail 3 Hut - Fireline - 1st exit from Fireline towards regular Trail 3 and descend via Trail 3A - Trail3 Parking - Back to Trail 5 VIC via Connecting trail.
Prizes for the first category of Margalla Hill Half Marathon will be Rs. 40,000 for the one who will mark the win at first spot while runner up will receive Rs. 20,000 and the third position holder will be awarded Rs. 10,000 cash prize. For Trail 3 Speed Hike (5 Km), the winner will bag Rs. 10,000 followed by the runner up who will receive Rs. 6,000 and the third prize money will be Rs. 3,000.
