Abid Ali proved too good against Muhammad Abid of Lahore by displaying powerful combination of forehand and backhand drives as second seed Abid stunned by Abid Ali Akber with the final score line of 6-2, 6-3.
Pakistan’s longest serving number one tennis player Aqeel Khan took it little time to outclass Ahmed Chaudhry in straight sets. Aqeel conceded not a single point to clinch the first set by 6-0.
. Aqeel was in superb form as he just conceded two point to win the set by 6-2, thus booked berth in the quarterfinal.
A UK-based Pakistani from Islamabad,Shamael Chaudhry won his encounter against Waqas Malik of Lahore in a sizzling three-set match. Shamael won the first set comfortably but faced resistance in the second set which lasted at tie break in favour of Waqas.In the final set Shamael came back courtesy strong serves and solid ground strokes down the line and across the court with the final score line of 6-2, 6-7(6) 6-4.
Seasoned campaigner and eighth seed Heera Ashiq struggled hard to win his encounter against Barkatullah from Peshawar in a well-played three-set match. Heera Ashiq faced tough resistance in the first set but succeeded in winning it 6-4. He lost the second 6-7(7) after a long battle but he fought back really well and utilized his experience to trounce his opponent in the third set 6-1 to win the encounter.
In the Junior U-18 category, eighth seed Moosa Chaudhry struggled hard to win his pre-quarter-final against Karachi’s Parbhat Kumar in a three-set match while top seed Muhammad Shoaib beat Sami Zeb Khan in another close match.
