Top seed Karim Ali Fathi (Egypt), third seed Ivan Yuen (Malaysia) and fourth seed Tayyab Aslam (Pakistan) lived up to their billing by completing the semi-final lineup.
World # 71 Tayyab Aslam asserted his dominance as the fourth seed in the tournament chalked up easy victory over Farhan Mehboob in all-Pakistan encounter to book berth into the semifinal .
. Tayyab showed his class and skills to utilized his international experience while skills and stamina to put Farhan under pressure and his planning helped him win the match with the final score line of 11-13, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6.
The world No 42 Fathi gets the better of eighth seed Addeen Idrakie of Malaysia straight 11-2, 11-6, 11-9 in half an hour. Yuen fought tooth and nail to rout fifth seed Asim Khan of Pakistan 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 5-11, 11-4 in 54-minutes.
Another unseeded Egyptian Amina El Rihany followed suit sending two seeded players packing to sneak into women’s semi-finals.
Ranked 273rd in the world, Amina, who demolished Anam Mustafa Aziz of Pakistan 11-2, 11-4, 11-2 in a span of 10-minutes in second round, continued her giant killing run when she stunned fourth seed Farah Momen 12-10, 11-3, 11-5 in all-Egyptian quarter-finals that lasted 23-minutes.
The other top three seeds – Madina Zafar (Pakistan), Ooi Kah Yan (Malaysia) and Farida Mohamed (Egypt) — as expected, crossed yet another hurdle.
Top seed Madina defeated Saima Shoukat 11-1, 11-7, 12-10 while second seed Ooi Yan was home 11-3, 11-9, 11-6 over sixth seed Riffat Khan. Farida carved out 11-2, 11-7, 11-3 victory over eighth seed Amna Fayyaz.
