Jamal Ud Din and Rida Naveed triumphant in 1st KP Drag Car Race

Over 70 vehicles of different categories from across the country participated in the 1st Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Drag Car Race which concluded successfully at Regi Lalma Model Town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

First Drag Car Race was organized by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), Frontier 4x4 Club, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), City District Government and PAK Wheels in which several racers from all over Pakistan participated in eight (8) different category competitions in which as many as 70 vehicles of different categories from across the country participated on a 400-metre long track prepared for the race.

Following are the 8 categories:
A: AWD unlimited
B: RWD unlimited
C: 2WD Turbo Max 4 Cylinder
D: AWD Turbo - Stock Turbo- 4 Cylinder
E: 1601cc uptill maximum 6 cylinders-naturally aspirated
F: 0 to 1600cc - naturally aspirated
G: 4WD SUV's/trucks
H: Female (any vehicle)

Jamal Ud Din was declared overall winner in the Men’s competitions after he covered the 400-metre long track in 9.713 seconds. While Mohsin stands second by covering the distance in 10.43 seconds. Similarly, Rida Naveed clinched the top position in Women’s contests as she covered the track in 12.22 seconds and Asma Siddiqui managed second position with 14.62 seconds to cover the track and the third spot went to Aneela from Peshawar who covered the track in 16.58 seconds.

In category B, Sardar Hassan Sadiq clinched first position by covering the track in 11.45 seconds and Saad accomplished the second spot with 12.98 seconds and Shahab got third position by 14.91 seconds.

In category C, Waqas, Junaid Qureshi and Bilal Jillani were the racers who were place at first, second and third positions respectively. Similarly, Amir Khan Durrani, Sher Khan and Sardar Hassan managed first, second and third spots in category D, while Chaudhry Shah Zeb and Maaz Tariq stands first and second in category E. In category F, Hamza Sarwar claimed the first position while second spot was managed by Ghazanfar Agha.

Officials from TCKP, President Frontier 4x4 Club Babar Khan and representatives of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), City District Government, PAK Wheels and a large number of spectators were present in the event.

Senior Minister, Muhammad Atif Khan, who also has the portfolio of Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs, has directed to organize the drag race event as part of the initiative to promote adventure tourism in the province. The officials also said that the event will mark a series of drag events in the future.
