Army to lock horns against WAPDA in 14th National Softball C’ship
Army will compete against WAPDA in the final of 14th National Softball Championship which is being played at Government Girls Degree College in Quetta.
Army and WAPDA softball teams were off to a great start as Army girls thrashed Punjab team 16-0 and won the very first match played into the championship and then trashed Sindh team as well by 15-1. While the second encounter saw WAPDA team claiming a brilliant win by crushing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team on 15-0.
And now Army and WAPDA women are all set to fight for the title of the in their final clash. While Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa teams will encounter each other for the third place play-off.
However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab teams were victorious in the matched played on the second day into the championship as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Baluchistan by two runs in which KP girls scored 18 runs in five innings with Hina Farooq’s four runs against Baluchistan’s 16 runs in total.
And Punjab managed an easy win over Sindh by 10 runs. Punjab scored 19 runs in their five innings through their star players Aqsa, Saba, Kiran and Rabia scored three runs each while Sindh scored only nine runs in their five innings.
Also, in another encounter, WAPDA players made Baluchistan team suffered the heavy loss of 15-0 through Madiha Junior who proved as the key scorer with her three runs.
This championship is being organized by Softball Federation Pakistan (SFP) which is hosted by Baluchistan Softball Association (BSA) along with Baluchistan Sports Board that is featuring a total of seven (7) teams belonging to Pakistan’s leading departments and as well as provinces. Participating teams includes: Army, WAPDA, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federal Capital of Pakistan; Islamabad.
