Promising third seed Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, runner up at the recently-concluded ITF Junior I overpowered unseeded compatriot Ahmed Kamil 6-0, 6-0 in their one-sided quarter-final to book berth into the semifinal of ITF Junior Tennis Championship.
Unseeded Berk Ulas of Turkey caused the second major upset of the the ITF Junior Championship here at the PTF Complex on Wednesday when he eliminated second seed Arya Roghani of Iran 6-3, 6-2 in the boys singles quarter-final.
In the girls event, Mahin Qureshi withdrew from her singles quarter-final against China’s Yiwendan Zhu due to a wrist injury as a result of which the latter got the walkover.
The pair of Sami Zeb and Subhan Bin Salik won against the duo of Shoaib Khan and Abdullah Abdullah 6-3, 6-3 in boy's double category.
The pairs that got byes in the first round of doubles category were: Ivan Penev from Bulgaria and Arya Roghani from Iran; Aryan Esmaeilpourfallahi and Yunes Talavar of Iran; Berk Ulas Enc from Turkey and Ronan Sahni from Great Britain; and Nauman Aftab and Saqib Hayat.
