250 players to feature in Rs 600,000 Nayza Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2018

Around 250 men and women will participate in third Nayza Pakistan Open Tennis Championship from Nov 15 to Nov 20 at Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) courts, Lahore.

As many as 250 men and women will participate in different category's event of the 3rd Nayza open Tennis Championship which is sponsored by Nayza sports schedule to be held from Nov 15 to Nov 20 at Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) courts, Lahore. 

Secretary PLTA and former Davis Cupper Rashid Malik said at a press conference that a total cash prize of Rs 600,000 was on stake and besides it sport gadgets would also be given to the top position holders of junior events.

He said that the PLTA had organised four All-Pakistan tournaments this year and it would be the fifth one, so it was a great achievement in providing playing opportunities to national-ranked players. He said that two more national junior events were on the card of the PLTA to hold before the end of the current year.

The event to be held in the 5 day long championship comprise of  U-10, U-12, U-14, U-18 events besides senior men’s singles and doubles would also be held.

Rashid, also Pakistan Davis Cup coach and top-ranked player in 1980-90, said that hard work with an effective sports policy were the need to produce international players like Aisam-ul-Haq.

He said that renovation of the cemented courts of the PLTA was due as those had been laid some 12 years back. He said that the PLTA would request the Punjab Sports Board as well as sponsors to come forward to renovate the courts.
