Hammad Hadi Khan wins World Scrabble Championship 2018 division B

Nigel Richards nicknamed the GOAT (greatest of all times) of New Zealand become the 2018 World Champion as he ends Division A with a 3-1 win over Jesse Day in London after five days of World Scrabble Championship 2018 played at Torquay, England. 

Shangrila’s boy Hammad Hadi Khan wins B-Division of world Scrabble Championship 2018 title after beating compatriot Imaad Ali in the best of 5 final by 3-1.

Hammad Hadi Khan, runner up of the junior world championship 2018 was in sizzling form as he won the first round with a spread of 472 as his compatriot Imaad Ali scored 439.

Karachi born player Hadi continued to be in great form as he sealed the second round with a spread of 594 while Imaad ended at 452.

In the third round both players showed marvelous performance as 12 year old Imaad Ali came back strongly to win the round with a spread of 373 while Hadi finished at 366.  scored 457.

The experience of Hammad proved to be the deciding factor as the won the B-Division of world Scrabble Championship 2018 title with the final score line of 472-439, 594-452, 366-373, 457-355 .

Imaad Ali, the reigning under-14 world champion, exceeded all expectations as secured the runner up spot of B-Division of World Scrabble Championship 2018.

16 year old Sohaib Sanaullah finished 3rd.

Tariq Pervez at 4th was the only senior player in a championship dominated by the youth even though most of the participants were adults

Hassan Hadi Khan, Daniyal Sanaullah and Hasham Hadi Khan who finished 5th, 6th and 7th respective made it look like an all Pakistan event.

Timothy Lawrence was the top non Pakistani finishing 8th.

About 120 players including six former world champions competed for the 2018 world title where Pakistan’s Waseem Khatri and Tariq Pervez joined by some of the youngsters who tried their luck against the adult players.
