Army bags PFF National Women Football Championship 2018 title
Army won over WAPDA on penalty shootout in the final game of National Women Football Championship 2018 which was being played at Punjab Football Stadium in Lahore.
12th Pakistan Premier Football League Qila Qasim Bagh, Multan, Punjab Stadium, Lahore, KPT and KMC, Karachi.Army and WAPDA football teams played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in the final match of PFF National Women Football Championship 2018. Players from both teams tried their best to score against the other side but the score-line remained at 1-1 goals for each side till the end of scheduled time.
Khadija of Army took the 41st minute lead through a field score and just when Army team seemed to be winning the final game, WAPDA did not stay behind for any longer and hit back through Joyomn who opened the tally for the losing team just after 3 minutes equalizing the score-line. The match thus finished in a 1-1 draw.
Penalty shootout therefore determined the outcome of the game. The final part of the match was a stunning play by Army football team which took the lead on goals by securing 3 goals whereas Punjab stayed behind with no goals for their side.
Winner team Army was awarded with 300,000 PKR while runner-up Punjab bagged 2 lac PKR. Third position went to Punjab pocketing 30,000 PKR along with a Fair play trophy. Khadija proved to be the best player from WAPDA who also, was awarded with 40 thousand PKR. Best scorer was named Masooma Chadhury of Model Town Football Academy and was given 40,000 PKR. WAPDA’s Mahpara received 30 thousand PKR for proving to be the Best Goal Keeper throughout the championship.
At the closing ceremony, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nissar congratulated Pakistan Football Federation’s President, Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and organizers for a successful women football event.
