World Scrabble Championship continue in full swing at Torquay, England

The 3rd day of the world scrabble championship being played at Torquay, England saw more action as Pakistani players had another excellent day with Moiz Baig creating a sensation by beating Nigel Richards, arguably the greatest scrabble player of all times, by a massive margin. Moiz remained at the No. 3 spot for a while but ended the day at the 8th position after a defeat in the last match.

Waseem Khatri also made a good start beating the 2014 world champion Craig Beevers in the first match of the day. Both Waseem and Moiz remained in the top ten positions but Waseem ended the day at 19th.

The division B continues to be an all Pakistan show with the top 5 positions still occupied by the Pakistani players.

Hammad Hadi continued ruthlessly on the 3rd day with a succession of wins. He remained on top almost from the word go and didn’t relent for a moment. Hammad has 22 wins from the 26 matches and maintains a spread of 2337.

Sohaib Sanaullah was no less impressive. He is firmly placed at 2nd with 21 wins and a spread of 2658.

Hammad and Sohaib now seem certain to qualify to the quarter finals.

Young Imaad Ali who made a sluggish start to the tournament finally returned to form and won 7 of the nine games played today. He is now placed 3rd with 17 wins and a spread of 1592.

Hassan Hadi also continued to be in good form and maintained his 4th position with 17 wins and a spread of 1341. Tariq Pervez is also on 17th wins but is relegated to the 5th position with a spread of 1271.

Terry Kang Rau of USA continues to be the top non Pakistani player at no 6.

Another 9 matches will be played today. Top 8 players from both divisions will qualify for the quarter finals.
