WAPDA, Punjab, HEC and Sindh open campaigns with comfortable wins in 14th National Women Volleyball Championship
WAPDA and Army made Islamabad suffer major loss of 2 matches played on the opening day of National Women Volleyball Championship 2018 which is being held at Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Center, KP.
WAPDA opened the first set with Zeenat superb strike who then with the support of her team mates Rabi, Sadia, Madiha and Irum sealed the win of the match by grasping three sets 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Islamabad team.
Islamabad team made the worst possible start in the tournament as the players not only lost to the defending champions, WAPDA but they also fell to Army team in their group A match. Army grabbed a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-17 win over Islamabad volleyball team.
Whereas in the third group A match, Sindh players smashed the ball quite too often and earned their team the first win in the game against the host Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 25-17, 25-15 and 25-18 sets.
While the two group B matches played between Punjab and AJK and the second game between HEC and Baluchistan teams witnessed Punjab and HEC wins.
Punjab team started on a good pace which benefited the team who closed their win of all three sets against AJK team on 25-18, 25-14, 25-17. And HEC volleyball team came with their true potential getting the first set by 25-14 and further putting back the opponent team in the second set at 25-17. After 2-0 lead, HEC raced up to victory in the third set at 25-11.
DG Sports KP graced the event as chief guest along with Ms. Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Sports Female Games, at the opening ceremony of the championship.
