Punjab secures third spot in National Women Football C’ship 2018
Punjab marks a 3-0 over Karachi United Women Football Team in the 3rd place match played at Model Town Football Academy Ground in Lahore.
Punjab’s women football team took on Karachi United women football team in the third place match which was played today at Model Town Football Academy Ground in Lahore and booked themselves the third spot in the championship.
As both the teams lost their chances of winning the title in the championships and did not make it to the final stage but the team players’ performance were noticeable enough to get them a third position match of the championship.
A superb goal from Shumaila in the 16th minute of the game opened the gates to which Mahnoor burst through the opponent’s attacks to stop her attempts to make it 3-0 win for her team.
As the winning team was seen racing the area, very little progress was seen made by the team lost even though the girls received the ball in enough space to try to make an attempt for their side but shooting with their weak foot-play didn't trouble the goalkeeper of Punjab team.
In the 68th minute Mahnoor with a tight angle opted to scoop the ball over and made sure that the ball finds its way into the net. And yet again in the 84th minute Mahnoor curls the ball goal-wards and slammed another goal for her team.
The losing team even with team-mates chasing the goals that might have breathed hope into their play to win in the match a growing feeling of powerlessness may have overwhelmed them as they stood frozen to their defeat.
President Punjab Football Association, Sardar Naveed Haider Khan congratulated the young Punjab Team on their tremendous performance and also appreciated the efforts of the coaches Zainab Mushtaq, Sajjad Hafeez Akbar & Khurram Shehzad. A Special Prize Of Rs.20,000 was awarded to the team & officials.
